The last day for Burgundie's Wine Cafe is may 30th. We'll take a bit of a break to breathe and rebuild. Then, we'll re-open as Burgundie's Place: a Creative Studio. We will no longer sell wine (or beer), and we will no longer make food. Our hours will be event based and by appointment only. Though our business model is changing, our ethos is not. In our new form, we will lean further into Community, Creativity, and Conversation.

We'll will offer classes, workshops, and club meetups. Attendees will buy a Studio Pass (prices will vary based on class, workshop, meetup). The Studio Pass includes coffee & tea and access to WiFi. Pastries and small food items may be for sale. People are welcome to bring their own food from home or from a Petersburg business.

Wine and beer will be offered as complimentary items during certain classes and workshops, within the limit of the ABC license, and at the host's discretion.

The types of classes and workshop offered will be:

Yoga - Meditation - Art - Writing - and more

Club MeetUps may be:

Art club - Writing Club - Crochet Club - French Meetup - Other language meetups - Philosopher Salon - Book Clubs - and more

In addition to weekly and monthly classes, workshops, and club meetups, Thai Massage will be offered by appointment only. Open House events will be scheduled starting in April where people can stop by during those hours and receive a free 10-15 minute Thai massage. Anyone who recieves a free Thai massage during an open house will receive a discount on their first Thai Massage thereafter.

The schedule for events and massage will be announced in May. Many of these events are a continuation of what we already offer.

Again: the same natural/low-intervention wines we've sold in the past will be available during events. We just can't sell it.

WHY THE CHANGE?

There are a lot of reasons.

Primarily though, Burg thrives on more intentional and meaningful gatherings. Certain events need a more controlled environment. The bar and restaurant atmosphere doesn't allow for the kinds of events Burg prefers to host.

People are bound to be disappointed with the change. The hope is that enough people will be interested in the new format and that once they experience it, the change makes sense.

TO EVERYONE WHO HAS COME IN AND SUPPORTED US:

Thank you. The wine cafe has been exactly what Burg hoped for, and more. People love the shop. That energy is palpable. Wine has always been secondary. You - the people - are the most important aspect. You are what makes community. You are creative. You are needed for conversation.

The hope is that in the new version of Burgundie's you find more community and make deeper connections, you get even more inspired to make something and even gain a friendship in the process, and you engage in conversations that prove we have more in common that we think.
