Another Way to Promote Community, Creativity, and Conversation

Morning Meditation

In our ongoing experiment to see what kinds of gatherings and events people want and need, we've added meditation to the list. As a personal and group practice, meditation is healing. Practicing meditation can decrease stress, anxiety, depression, blood pressure, and more. Certain types of meditation can improve memory, cognition, energy, libido, circulation, mood...the list goes on. Meditating together creates a sense of connection to ourselves, eachother, the community, and the universe. Meditation is for anyone and everyone. No experience is necessary to start, only curiosity.

General Class Info

To start, Burgundie will lead one-hour meditation classes weekly on Wednesdays at 9AM. Classes are $10 per person. Students must register no later than 2 hours before class starts. Classes are scheduled 30-days out. Class sizes are capped at 10. To reduce confusion, no walk-ins are allowed. No food or wine will be served. Tea may be offered.

Water is always available.

Classes will be held in the front section of Burgundie's Wine Cafe. A screen will be put up in the front window to create a sense of privacy. However, it is good for others to see meditation in progress. It helps spread positive energy.

All ages are welcome. Children (and adults) must be mindful of others. Children under 15 must be accompanied by an adult. Children attending class must register as well.

Meditation Info

There are many styles of meditation. Some involve movement, writing, breath work. Not all meditaion is simply done seated quietly on a pillow. No experience is necessary for any meditation classes offered. Meditation is more or less challenging depending on the individual student's state of mind in the moment, nothing more.

Students are encouraged to bring a yoga mat or small blanket and/or a sitting pillow/zafu.  If floor sitting isn't accessible, chairs are always available. Wear comfortable clothing. Avoid wearing perfume and jangly jewelry as this can be distracting to some.

Classes will begin with brief introductions followed by gentle exercises to prepare the mind for meditation. If writing is incorporated into the class, paper and pen will be provided. If students prefer to use their own journal, then it's suggested to always bring it, just in case. Journaling after meditation is a great way to observe what you experienced so you can reflect later.
